Our nuclear business is a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority, managing all aspects of plant design, safety, manufacture, performance and through-life support.

 he Submarines business has been successfully supporting the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine fleet and to sustain our capability and products for the next 50 years, we are engaged in an active programme of research and development of cutting-edge Non Destructive Examination (NDE) techniques.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, commission, justify and apply high integrity inspection techniques using bespoke remotely operated manipulators.
  • Develop advanced automated ultrasonic and eddy current inspection techniques including state-of-the-art phased array inspection capabilities for use on naval reactor plant.
  • Work across a range of areas and to be involved in the testing of high integrity components through all stages of life.
  • Operate as part of a close knit team with technical excellence and customer satisfaction high on the agenda.
  • Develop and implement new methods of non-destructive examination, using bespoke remotely operated machines.
  • Validate all techniques in accordance with the European Network for Inspection Qualification (ENIQ) guidelines, and provide clear, concise and accurate written technical reports.

Qualifications and experience

  • Educated to degree level in mechanical engineering, design, physics, materials or similar discipline or equivalent.
